Would like something in place where we can find out if a friend is deceased recently!

BJ_IS_RIGGED, VW would have to set up some sort of communication line. ie post it somewhere like a community forum for updating on things that are going on w/us (the players). maybe one of the new clubs where people could post the death or the mourning of players, esp the long time ones that are cherished by most of us! Perhaps like the VW Veteran’s Wall in DC/
For example I just happened upon the fact that Barking Spider has probably been deceased since 15 Aug 26. I’m sure his VW SPOUSE would have posted the INFORMATION IF there was a place set up to do that.
Just a thought. I like making new friends & understand that you can’t post REAL info for security purposes but this type of info would not be for everyone. Our Avator names are NOT tied to our real names but friends usually know who we are.
You’d need legal/IRL evidence/documents regarding someone’s death. Word of mouth isn’t indisputable proof that an internet friend “died”. People on the internet fake their deaths more often than you think

6_7, thank you for that reminder! Because we recently lost several family members, loss of notification is very important to me. I cannot believe (but should) that PeriDot would put this on her VW page as a fake notification though. Maybe VW could look into a way to acknowledge the deceased and still “deny liability” for the statement. Not sure but it seems they could handle the process since there are soo many virtual FRIENDS that really care about each other. Kind of like having Memorial Party for them. I guess I could do a “Celebration of Life” Party for Barking Spider, just not sure how to handle letting everyone know about it. Thks VW for opening up this conversation.
VW has no way of knowing if someone dies. Try to have a family member who can access your site to share on your profile if something has happened.
Becky, I doubt if my husband would do that but maybe my daughter, but actually I was not asking for me. Guess I could put it in my will, lol. Oh I am sooooo bad!
I’m just going to have a party to celebrate his life & hope everyone see it. Today! I told his wife. & a few people at parties that knew him so hopefully folk can enjoy, I know he would have like that.

Word of mouth in cases such as this might be more feasable, if a family member has access to your acct, they may wish to post this on your profile. .
There could be privacy issues otherwise.
